Integrity is the first indigenous Nigerian, non-profit, anti-corruption, Non Governmental Organization set up to empower people, systems and institutions against corruption. The mission of the organization is to enhance the active participation of the citizenry in processes that determine and shape their future and to act as a catalyst in the promotion of integrity, truth, civility and accountability in public and private life. The organization is poised at this point in time to contribute towards the achievement of the MDG’s and the NEEDS initiative. Founded in 1995 INTEGRITY seeks primarily to halt and possibly redress the damage being done to the socio-economic and socio-political fabric of Nigeria by corruption and corrupt practices. The founders had experienced first-hand the negative effects of both the real and imagined reputation of Nigeria and Nigerians for corruption and the nature and extent of corruption in both the public and private sectors. The alarming proportions of the problem spurred them to consider direct action.
